Yom Ha'Shoa - Holocaust Remembrance Day

Today. Yom Ha'Shoa, the Jewish nation remembers our fellow Jews who were murdered by the Nazis.

Picture via Jews for Judaism.   Today, more than 70 years after the Holocaust, this picture offends some people.  Facebook agreed and marked it as 'insensitive'.

Shabbat Shalom!

Shabbat Shalom to all my readers!

Ofra Haza sings "Hai" (Alive) in the Munich Eurovision 1983.  Ehud Manor, who wrote the words, felt it was important for an Israeli representative to stand in Germany and sing about the Jews staying alive.

The backup singers were wearing yellow in memory of the yellow badge the Jews were forced to wear.

Yom Ha'atzmaut - 66th Israeli Independence Day

A Happy Yom Ha'atzmaut to all my readers.  Today we celebrate 66 years to the re-establishment of the Jewish State.

Arik Einstein sings about in-gathering of exiles, revival of Hebrew and the rebuilding of our land.  Over the centuries every generation contributed its part in the development of the Jewish people in Israel.

Yom Hazikaron

Tonight and tomorrow Israel will remember its fallen soldiers and victims of terror.

The song "It's Good Now" was written by Gilad Segev in memory of his brother, Captain Sharon Segev, who died in the line of duty.  A list of all 23,169 soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in the defense of our country is available online together with their life story.

I'll resume blogging Wednesday.
