France: Parisian teacher fined 1,500 euros for saying 'Jews organized the Holocaust'

A French court fined a teacher from a Parisian high school €1,500 last week for making anti-Semitic remarks including that the Jews “planned and organized the Holocaust.”

The ruling was welcomed by the World Zionist Organization on Tuesday.

According to an AFP report, the English teacher from the Lycée Janson de Sailly school made the anti-Semitic comments in 2016 on her Facebook account, which is accessible to students.

The court found her guilty of denying crimes against humanity and of racial defamation. She was also ordered to pay 500 Euros in damages to several organizations who brought the civil action, including SOS Racisme and the International League Against Racism and Anti-Semitism.

Czech Republic: "Jews, homosexuals and Roma should be gassed," said an influential extreme right wing politician

"Jews, gays and Roma should be gassed," said Jaroslav Staník, the secretary of the ultra-right wing Czech populist party "Freedom and Direct Democracy" (SPD) and a close collaborator of the party leader Tomio Okamura, in parliament. Because of such statements, Staník got embroiled in a verbal conflict with the Czech Social Democratic Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Michaela Marksová-Tominová and some other MPs. The conflict took place in one of the restaurants in the Czech Parliament, which are not accessible to the public.

"As I entered the restaurant, he said 'You are that Marx-Engels minister. You support homosexuals.' He added that they should be gassed and liquidated. I remonstrated with him verbally," said the minister, adding that Staník was heavily drunk.

Marek Černoch, MP for Úsvit, said that Staník's statements were even worse. "He demanded that all homosexuals, Roma, and Jews should be shot immediately after they have been born. He also verbally attacked the women that were present with gross insults."

Several other witnesses have confirmed that Staník demanded the gassing of Jews and Roma.

Europe: Palestinian diplomat shocks European Parliament with outrageous Holocaust reference

British MEP David Campbell-Bannerman hosted Wednesday an event in the European Parliament in Brussels marking the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, in cooperation with the AJC Transatlantic Institute and the Board of Deputies of British Jews.

Among the speakers were Israel’s EU ambassador Aharon Leshno-Yaar, Gillian Merron, Chief Executive of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, Isaac Jacobson of the American Jewish Committee and Toby Greene of BICOM.

During the event, pro-Palestinian activists sitting in the room, expressed their displeasure of the conference by deploying a large banner bearing Palestinian flags, by shouting "Free Palestine" and by calling for Britain to apologize for the Declaration. This led other people in the audience to respond "long life Israel". Security agents brought the demonstrators out of the room.

But when a Palestinian representative in Brussels took the floor during the Q/A session to describe the Balfour Declaration as the "Holocaust of the Palestinians", this was too much…

To compare the Balfour Declaration which was issued in a time of growing anti-Semitism in Europe and in the context of the collapse of empires, to the systematic extermination of six million Jews, is simply outrageous and unacceptable as Daniel Schwammenthal, Director of the AJC Transatlantic Institute, rightly stated.

Yes, the European Parliament is the place for democratic debates about various world issues. But it can’t be used to make such statements which are tantamount to denying the importance of the Shoah. Isn’t this pure anti-Semitism?

Some weeks ago, in the same European Parliament, former Palestinian terrorist Leila Khaled used a platform to praise extremist violence and demonize Jews. She glorified terrorism and trivialized the Holocaust. "Don’t you see a similarity between Nazi actions and Zionist actions in Gaza?," she declared. "While the Nazis were tried in Nuremberg, no one has ever tried the Zionists," she said. How can this be allowed without sanctions?

France: Flyers handed out calling for the killing of Jews at Paris suburb of Clichy

Rémi Muzeau, the mayor (Les Républicains) of the Paris suburb of Clichy, revealed that he has in his possession leaflets calling for the killing of Jews.

They were found on the streets and state: "If you meet a Jew, kill him".

Rémi Muzeau organised a protest against the illegal muslim 'prayers' in the street attended by about 100 mayors was interviewed by LCI.

Poland: 60,000 participate in nationalist march amid shouts of ‘Jews out’

Far-right marchers shouted “Jews out” and other racist slogans at Independence Day events in Poland, drawing condemnation from Jewish groups.

At the March of Independence in Warsaw on Saturday, participants held signs with racist slogans, including “White Europe, Europe must be white.” Some shouted “Sieg Heil” and “Remove Jewry from power.” Among the marchers were individuals who wore masks, waved red-and-white Polish flags and burned flares.

Police estimated that 60,000 people participated in the annual march, which is organized by nationalist groups and marked 99 years of Polish independence. A small minority of the marchers came from outside of Poland.

Poland’s interior minister expressed pride in the event.

“It was a beautiful sight,” Mariusz Błaszczak said. “We are proud that so many Poles have decided to take part in a celebration connected to the Independence Day holiday.”

Culture Minister Piotr Gliński condemned the slogans and banners that mentioned race without referring to anti-Semitism.

“We do not support such slogans,” he said, referencing what he termed “use of ethnic and racist terminology to describe the concept of the Polish nation.”

Germany: Karl Lagerfeld says Germany 'cannot kill millions of Jews so you can bring millions of their worst enemies in their place"

Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has sparked outrage by evoking the Holocaust as he attacked German Chancellor Angela Merkel for opening the country's borders to migrants.

The 84-year-old German said his country 'cannot - even if there are decades between them - kill millions of Jews so you can bring millions of their worst enemies in their place'. He added while speaking on a French television show: 'I know someone in Germany who took a young Syrian and after four days said, "The greatest thing Germany invented was the Holocaust"'.

Several hundred people lodged official complaints about Lagerfeld's comments, the French media regulator said Monday after he appeared on the 'Salut les terriens!' (Hello Earthlings!) talkshow on the C8 channel on Saturday.

The veteran Chanel designer, who was born in Hamburg just as Adolf Hitler came to power, had earlier lambasted Merkel for taking more than one million asylum seekers since the migrant crisis of 2015.

'Merkel had already millions and millions (of immigrants) who are well integrated and who work and all is well... she had no need to take another million to improve her image as the wicked stepmother after the Greek crisis,' said Lagerfeld.

'Suddenly we see the pastor's daughter,' he said in reference to Merkel's father, who was a Protestant minister in the former East Germany.

Lagerfeld, who is rarely afraid of controversy, said he was going to 'say something horrific' before criticising the chancellor for the 'huge error' of accepting so many refugees from war-torn Syria and elsewhere.

'Look at France, the land of human rights, which has taken, I don't know, 10,000 or 20,000,' he added.

Sweden: Islamist-inspired antisemitism is spiraling out of control

(...) For instance, Sweden is probably the only Western, nominally democratic country that is currently engaged in multiple wars, all financed by an extremist government that freely uses Swedish tax revenues to further its political agenda at home and abroad.

The Swedish government’s first war is against Israel. The day after it took office in 2014, the government announced its recognition of something called “Palestine,” with absolutely no strings attached.

No demands for a stop to the Palestinian Authority’s antisemitism, genocidal violence against Jews, indoctrination of vulnerable young Arab children, and abuse of sporting, educational and cultural contexts to vilify the Jewish State of Israel.

Sweden could have stopped all this by conditioning its financial and diplomatic aid on an end to such activities. Instead, the Swedish government actively chose not to impose any such conditions on the use of Swedish tax revenues.

The Swedish government’s second war is against all measures that have any chance of bringing about coexistence or peace for Israel. Sweden actively supports efforts to encourage Palestinian Arab intransigence, including massive funding of educational and cultural activities that condemn new generations of Arab children to an upbringing steeped in hatred and racism.

The Freedom Theatre is just one way in which Sweden ensures that future generations of Arab children remain firmly stuck in the moral morass of antisemitism, hatred, violence and rejection of peaceful coexistence.

The Swedish government’s third war is against its own Jewish citizens and their indelible links to their families in Israel.

This can be seen perhaps most clearly in the actions of former Swedish housing minister Mehmet Kaplan, who announced his first policy decision back in autumn 2014 as – I quote – the “liberation of Jerusalem.” The Jewish city of Jerusalem – all of Jerusalem, was to be liberated from Jews, by Muslims. As the official foreign policy of the Swedish government. On its first day in power. (...)

Islamist-inspired antisemitism in Sweden is spiraling out of control, including public calls in some mosques to – I quote – “kill the Jews wherever they are found.”

This kind of rabid antisemitism from a sizable Islamist minority has been routinely ignored as just “the jargon of that culture,” while identical antisemitic sentiments uttered by a tiny, idiotic neo-Nazi minority have attracted loud government condemnation. The discrepancy in responses is remarkable. Yet despite Sweden’s ongoing domestic social implosion, the only consistent government policy does not even relate to domestic issues but to a foreign one – namely criticism of Israel.

UK: Jewish woman, 70, attacked in London by assailant shouting ‘Jew’ in Polish

A 70-year-old Jewish woman was hospitalized with a concussion after being attacked by an assailant who called her “Zyd,” Polish for “Jew.”

The male attacker smashed her head into a brick wall while shouting “Zyd” during the attack on Saturday afternoon in London’s Stamford Hill neighborhood, which has a large Orthodox Jewish population, the London-based Campaign Against Anti-Semitism reported on its website.

UK: Labour candidate: "What have the Jews done good in this world?"

Labour has shortlisted as a potential candidate a woman who posted online: “what have the Jews done good in this world?”. Nasreen Khan, a former RESPECT activist now a Labour member, is on a two person shortlist to fight a council seat in Bradford next year. Khan has previously posted:

“It’s such a shame that the history teachers in our school never taught us this but they are the first to start brainwashing us and our children into thinking the bad guy was Hitler. What have the Jews done good in this world?”
Khan also said:

“The Jews have reaped the rewards of playing victims. Enough is enough!”
Last night Khan said her comments were “inappropriate and unacceptable”. A Labour spokesman said the party does not comment on selections. Unbelievable that Labour won’t comment on this…

"Surely some US president has to have the courage to stand up and take on the Jewish lobby in US? I must be naive, I suppose!" (Prince Charles, Nov. 24, 1986))

Prince Charles was fiercely criticised last night after it emerged he once urged the US to ‘take on the Jewish lobby’ – and blamed ‘the influx of foreign Jews’ for causing unrest in the Middle East.

The Mail on Sunday can reveal the incendiary comments are contained in a letter in which the Prince lays bare his thoughts on one of the world’s most bloody disputes.

Writing to his close friend Laurens van der Post in 1986, the Prince makes a startling assessment of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

He argues it was the exodus of European Jews in the middle of the last century that ‘helped to cause the great problems’. He goes on to say terrorism in the region will only end when its causes are eliminated.

He then expresses the hope a US President will find the courage to stand up to the American ‘Jewish lobby’.

The term ‘Jewish lobby’ is considered by many to be anti-Semitic – suggesting wealthy Jews in the US operate behind the scenes to exercise undue influence over government policy. (..)

Last night, Stephen Pollard, influential editor of The Jewish Chronicle, said: ‘To me this is the most astonishing element of the Prince’s letter. The “Jewish lobby” is one of the anti-Semitic themes that have endured for centuries. It is this myth there are these very powerful Jews who control foreign policy or the media or banks or whatever.’

Mr Pollard described the letter as ‘jaw-droppingly shocking’, adding: ‘That they [the Prince’s comments] come from the heir to the throne is unsettling, to put it mildly.’

While the letter is inflammatory, there is no suggestion Charles holds anti-Semitic views. He has many prominent Jewish friends and in 2013 became the first Royal to attend a chief rabbi’s inauguration ceremony. In a speech that year, he expressed concern at the apparent rise of anti-Semitism in Britain.

In the past it has been reported that the Prince is privately critical of US policy in the Middle East, with one diplomatic source accusing him of having ‘fairly dodgy views on Israel’.

Charles has always enjoyed a close and supportive relationship with the Jewish community in Britain.

At the same time, he is seen as a defender of Islam, with one historian noting that no other major Western figure has as high a standing in the Muslim world.

It has also been suggested he has pro-Palestinian leanings, a perception the letter appears to support. (...)

In 1993, Charles delivered what was then considered to be the most pro-Islamic speech ever made by a member of the Royal Family.

He said: ‘Islam can teach us today a way of understanding and living in the world which Christianity is poorer for having lost.’

He added: ‘These two worlds, the Islamic and the Western, are at something of a crossroads in their relations. We must not let them stand apart.’

In 2003, it was reported the Prince had not been to the US for the previous six years on Foreign Office advice, largely because of his criticism of US policy in the Middle East.

A diplomatic source said at the time the Prince had ‘in American terms and international terms, fairly dodgy views on Israel. He thinks American policy in the Middle East is complete madness.’

Sweden: Public TV refuses to air major antisemitism documentary

Audiences in Israel are currently flocking to see a Swedish film about the relationship between terrorism and antisemitism that Swedish national TV, which partly financed the production, continues to refuse to screen.

“Watching the Moon at Night,” directed by the veteran Swedish documentary-maker Bo Persson, will be playing to a sold-out audience at Jerusalem’s Cinematheque on Monday night, following screenings this week in Tel Aviv. The 90-minute documentary has been shown at film festivals in 12 different countries since its release in 2015, but Sweden’s national public television, SVT, has refused to air it because of pressure from a small group of executives who object to the portraits of Israeli victims of terrorism in the film, Persson told The Algemeiner on Friday.

“Many people in Sweden were shaken by this decision,” Persson said. “Sweden is a fairly open and democratic society, so when Swedish TV decides to cancel a film that they themselves were involved with, that leaves people shocked and bewildered.”

Persson said that the bulk of the film’s financing had been provided by the prestigious Swedish Film Institute, which continues to support the director in his dispute with SVT. He also alleged that editors in SVT‘s documentary film department had breached the broadcaster’s guidelines concerning the editorial independence of outside contributors.

Persson said that he and his colleague Joanna Helander spent five years working on the film, which includes harrowing interviews with survivors and relatives of terror attacks and insightful analysis from some of the leading scholars of antisemitism. Dan Alon, a fencer who survived the 1972 Palestinian terrorist atrocity against Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics, features prominently, as does Arnold Roth, whose 15 year-old daughter Malki was murdered in a Palestinian suicide bombing attack on a Jerusalem pizza restaurant in 2001. Among the authorities on antisemitism who appear are two leading academics who have passed away in the last two years — Professor Robert Wistrich of the Hebrew University, and Andre Glucksmann, the French philosopher and writer.

Germany: University removes pig-eared Einstein picture

The picture shows Albert Einstein with pig’s ears, an antisemitic theme that was first depicted in 13th-century Germany.

Protests from a local Jewish community and a student group at the University of Göttingen prompted an art exhibit in the cafeteria to be dismantled on Friday because of allegations of antisemitism and sexism.

The Göttingen Jewish community, in a letter to the university, criticized the exhibit’s main picture, German media reported on Wednesday. The picture shows Albert Einstein with pig’s ears, an antisemitic theme that was first depicted in 13th-century Germany.

Netherlands: Prosecutors say calling Israeli kids ‘Zionist terrorists’ not incitement

Calling Israeli children “Zionist terrorists in training” and “future child murderers and occupiers” does not constitute incitement to hate, Dutch prosecutors said.

The Public Prosecution Service decided Wednesday not to prosecute Abdoe Khoulani, a city councilman in The Hague, on the basis of a criminal complaint filed against him over statements he made in May about schoolchildren from Israel who visited his city, the Telegraaf daily reported.

The service cited how Zionists are “indistinguishable” from other people by race, complexion or origins. Khoulani would have been prosecuted had he spoken about Jews, the service also said. Furthermore, the decision said, schoolchildren did not complain themselves against Khoulani, making it procedurally difficult to prosecute him for intending to cause them offense.

The youth movement of the Reformed Political Party, which hosted the visiting Israeli Young Ambassadors program in The Hague, filed the complaint with police against Khoulani for hate speech. Facebook has removed the post with his remarks.

But the prosecution service said it would prosecute Khoulani, who represents the Islamist Party of Unity and is Muslim, for repeatedly insulting Anneke Brons, who has defended Israel on social media and criticized his comment about the children.

In one message, he called Brons a “blonde bitch.”

Khoulani continued: “And you know what you should do, Anneke? You should leave the Netherlands immediately and go live in an Israeli colony. Happily steal Palestinian land and see Palestinian children being shot dead. That’s what you should do. You belong there. With the Zionist scum.”

UK: The Finsbury Park Mosque and Hamas – A cracking joke

I didn’t know the Finsbury Park Mosque was good at humour. Oh my, it is, and how. The Times has reported that one of the mosque’s trustees, Mohammed Sawalha, is a ruling member of Hamas. ITIC has much more.

Asked how Mr Sawalha’s position in Hamas squared with Finsbury Park Mosque’s values, a spokesperson said: “We were not aware about this news till recently made public in [The Times].
“We are looking at the situation and the mosque will be issuing a statement in the next couple of days.
“We would like to confirm that the mosque has no relationship with Hamas.”
Perhaps the mosque could “look at the situation” by going back over a decade to a BBC Panorama report which called Mr Sawalha a “fugitive Hamas commander”. Yes, he has been it at for that long. All the way back to the 1990s, in fact, when he settled in this country.

Netherlands: Jewish journalist accused of being an Israeli spy in the Dutch parliament

This week, only six months after I became a Dutch citizen, my wife congratulated me for being mentioned in parliament for my reporting on the Netherlands’ relations with Israel. Flattered, I looked it up, expecting to find praise for my work. I was already kind of drafting, as journalists instinctively do, some grateful Facebook post on my integration success story.

There was just one tiny problem: The mention, which local Jewish leaders later condemned as anti-Semitic, was by a pro-immigrant, Muslim rights party that insinuated that I am a Zionist spy for Israeli intelligence.

The charges appear in a set of questions submitted to the chamber by Denk (“think” in Dutch), a party founded by two Dutch-Turkish politicians. Citing my reporting for JTA and prior service in the Israel Defense Forces, they suggested to Cabinet ministers that as a former member of the military, I am part of an effort by Israel to “spy on pro-Palestine activists in Europe.”

Seeing this elicited a rash of emotions, from disbelief and anger at my accusers to gratitude when strangers publicly leapt to my defense.

Let me back up. When I became a citizen earlier this year, I had both hope and doubts. Would a country defined by centuries of tolerance continue to show respect and acceptance for its religious minorities? Or would it succumb to pressures from the far right on the one hand and Islamists on the other?

To me, Denk’s attack demonstrated that my roots can be used against me — and maybe against my children, too — even in the once-tolerant society into which I thought I integrated.

What seemed to have inspired the party’s attack was my reporting about the appointment of Cabinet minister Sigrid Kaag, a former staffer for UNRWA, the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, who is married to a former ambassador of the Palestinian Authority to Switzerland.

In an article about her appointment, I wrote that in 1996, she accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of using racist language. Denk accused me of misquoting Kaag in a “campaign of libel,” arguing that she was merely quoting Israeli critics of Netanyahu while expressing no opinion herself. (...)

Above all, I am saddened by the fact that the query accusing me of treason or disloyalty came from a party that represents mainly immigrants from the Middle East. It shouldn’t go unnoticed that our common enemies accuse them of the exactly the same thing.

On a personal level, I wonder what the people I interview – and more crucially for my extensive travels, immigration officers with no knowledge of the affair — might think when they Google my name, only to find an accusation on the Dutch parliament’s website that I am a spy. Or what an Islamist terrorist in search of a quality target might think upon reading my name — singled out publicly by his favorite party — which is also listed in the Dutch White Pages.
