France: Ilam Halimi plaque vandalized (or destroyed by a completely random accident)

Meanwhile, a plaque commemorating the 2006 murder of a young Jew by a gang of thugs was founded broken in a Paris suburb.

"It's outrageous, unacceptable, I am extremely shocked," said the mayor of the town of Bagneux, Marie-Hélène Amiable.

The plaque was put up in 2011 in the town's Richelieu Park. "It has been a powerful symbol for our town," she told AFP. She added that the plaque appears to have been broken by vandals but did not totally rule out that a heavy object had fallen on it.  more
