Denmark: Security measures isolate Jews from society

Via DR:

Following the terror attack in Copenhagen last year, in which a Muslim shot dead a Jewish security guard outside a synagogue, the Danish government increased security for Jewish institutions, including roadblocks, secured entrances and armed police.

Brian Arly Jacobsen, researcher at Copenhagen University, says that these measures isolate Jews from Danish society, because it makes it more difficult to participate in events at Jewish institutions, as people need to call up first and ensure they are approved to visit.

Dan Rosenberg, head of the Jewish community in Denmark, agrees with this assessment and says that they try to counter that by having annual open culture festivals and other events.  They also intend to open a Jewish information center which will not be closed off like other Jewish institutions.
