Honestly Concerned):
Three weeks ago, the Jewish cemetery in Bleckede was desecrated. Eleven tombstones were overturned and partially destroyed in the historic cemetery, which contains 37 tombstones altogether.
Michael Fürst, head of the Jewish community in Lower Saxony, says that the community is alarmed by the increase in cemetery vandalism. This is not an isolated case. Previously
the cemetery in Hannover was vandalized.
Fürst links the vandalism to the asylum debate and says that racism and xenophobia against the refugees spill over into antisemitism.
