German MP quits AfD after comparing party's refugee policy to Nazi plans to deport Jews

German regional MP has quit the country’s rapidly growing far-Right party and accused it of pursuing policies “reminiscent” of the Nazis.

Claudia Martin resigned the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party whip just nine months after being elected and compared its refugee policy to Nazi plans to deport Europe’s Jews to Madagascar.

The resignation is a serious blow to the AfD ahead of next year's general elections, after it inflicted heavy losses on Angela Merkel in regional elections this year.
