UK: BNP blames Jews for everything

Nick Griffin, head of the right-wing British National Party (BNP), blamed Jews in a recent right-wing conference of a "cold-blooded, calculated and deliberate" attack on European nations.

Hungary: White powder mailed to Jewish leader

An envelope containing white powder sent to a representative of Hungary’s Jewish communities did not contain any dangerous materials. 

The envelope was mailed earlier this week to Andras Heisler, president of the Mazsihisz federation of Hungarian Jewish communities, according to a report Wednesday by the ATV station.

Lithuania: "I would be flattered if anyone ever thought Lithuanians controlled the world"

Only eight of us came out to protest against this mockery of the Holocaust, an open expression of xenophobia and antisemitism. Although we were protected by the police, it was quite difficult to experience the deep hostility shown toward us. If looks could kill, we would have been murdered time after time.

Then there were the men and women who came up to myself and Professor Dovid Katz to shout at us in Lithuanian, knowing full well that neither of us understands the language.

The march ended with a protest assembly in which I found myself conducting a heated debate with a Lithuanian who insisted that I was to blame for ruining Lithuanian-Jewish relations. “Let bygones be bygones,” he said. “Why don’t you speak to the crowd about the brave Lithuanians who saved Jews at great risk during the Holocaust? They will applaud you.”

I tried to explain that I truly admire the righteous but this was a crowd that preferred Nazi collaborators as their heroes. In response, the man said that he had visited Israel and had been extremely impressed.

Imagine my surprise when I learned his identity — it was Vitas Tomkus, the editor of Respublika, a tabloid that has published more than its fair share of openly antisemitic articles and cartoons, including a notorious one portraying Jews and gays controlling the world. “How could you do such a thing?” I asked Mr Tomkus. “Take it as a compliment. I would be flattered if anyone ever thought Lithuanians controlled the world,” he said with a chuckle, leaving us to ponder the difficulties of combating antisemitism in post-Communist Eastern Europe.

France: Holocaust denier on National Front party’s ticket

France’s far-right National Front party placed a Holocaust denier on its list of candidates for the municipal elections in Paris.

The candidate, Pierre Panet, wrote in 2012 that he “shares the analysis of Roger Garaudy,” a convicted Holocaust denier. The L’Express daily reported on his candidacy Wednesday.

The same year, he told the AFP news agency: “I haven’t changed. I always credit Robert Faurisson, but I refrain from elaborating these theses because it is forbidden by law.”

Hungary: Graves desecrated with anti-Holocaust, anti-Jewish graffiti

The Jewish cemetery in Tatabánya (northwestern Hungary) was desecrated with graffiti which included: swastikas, "stinking Jews", "holo-scam", "the Holocaust didn't happen, but it will".

Greece: "Zionists running Greek affairs"

TV Zoom is a web TV channel created by Makis Triantafyllopoulos.  One of the programs there is "Makeleio", by Stefanos Chios.  Chios is a self-proclaimed journalist who attracts a large audience.

In this clip (~17:45), Chois says that Theodoros Karipidis' candidacy for Regional Governor of Western Macedonia was derailed by the "American Zionists".  Chois says these Zionists interfere in Greek political affairs on behalf of the Jewish Zionists.

Ukraine: Jew Stabbed in Antisemitic Attack

Rabbi Hillel Cohen, the chairman of Hatzalah Ukraine was attacked and stabbed in Kiev, according to a report by Rotternik.

Cohen was on his way to the Kiev hospital to visit a sick Jewish tourist who had been hospitalized a few weeks earlier.

Passing through an alley on the way to the hospital, Cohen was attacked in broad daylight by two youths, at 10 AM on Thursday.

Cohen was hit hard by the attackers, who yelled “Zhid” (Jew) at him, and other words in Russian.

Sweden: Antisemitic Muslim preacher invited to Syrian event

A month ago, antisemitic and homophobic preacher Sheikh Mohammad Rateb Al-Nabulsi was invited to speak at the annual conference of Muslimska Familjedagarna (Muslim Family Days).  After the issue hit the headlines, the invitation was withdrawn.

Turns out that Sheikh Al-Nablusi has been invited again, this time by the Syrian Society of Southern Sweden. According to the event's advertising, it is co-organized by ABF (Workers' Educational Association) and sponsored by the city of Malmö.  It is set for this Saturday, the same day as the Malmö kippa-march against antisemitism.

ABF claim they are not involved with this at all.  Coincidently (or not), one of the boardmembers of ABF Malmö is Adrian Kaba, a Social Democrat politician, who in the past wrote an op-ed about the "Jewish-European right-wing extremist conspiracy".

The Syrian Society say they invited Al-Nablusi because he's famous and they want to attract a lot of people.  He was not invited to speak, and in any case that does not mean they agree with his ideas.

France: Student accosted with antisemitic chants praising Muslim terrorist

Via LDJ: On Saturday, March 8, a young Jewish woman was accosted as she left a religious school in Strasbourg, by youth praising terrorist Mohammed Merah.

Netherlands: 23% rise in anti-Semitic incidents

A Dutch Jewish watchdog group reported a 23 percent increase in the number of anti-Semitic incidents last year in the Netherlands from 2012. 

The Hague-based Center for Information and Documentation on Israel, or CIDI, recorded 147 anti-Semitic incidents in the Netherlands in 2013 compared to 114 in the previous year. CIDI’s annual report was released Tuesday.

Sweden: Malmo synagogue vandalized again

On March 1, a stone was thrown at the synagogue in Malmo, breaking a window.

The synagogue was previously attacked a week earlier.

Turkey: Lawmaker says he'd understand if Jew (or other non-Muslim) behind Erdogan corruption scandal

Turkish lawmaker and former Economy Minister Zafer Çaglayan who is a member of Erdogan's Justice and Development party made the remarks during a public rally on Saturday, Turkish newspaper Zaman reported.

"The nation sees very well what kind of mentality we are fighting against. There are many things that I can tell you. But I would understand if a Jew, an atheist, a Zoroastrian would do all these things to us. Shame on them if these things are done by those who claim to be Muslim. How can a Muslim do this?" Zaman quoted Caglayan as saying, quoting Al Jazeera Turk.

Update:

A former Turkish government minister apologized to the country’s Jewish community for anti-Semitic comments he made at a political rally.

In a letter published in Salom, a Jewish newspaper in Turkey, former Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan said that if he “unwillingly caused resentment, I express my sorrow.”
