Nicolas Anelka's appointment as a consultant to Roda JC has not been taken to kindly by the Jewish community, with a spokeperson branding the Frenchman's role a "disgrace".
The former striker was brought to the Eredivisie side at the behest of new co-owner Aleksei Korotaev, with the intention the 37-year-old would focus on the youth system and advise on signing players from France.
However, the move has not been popularly met by all given Anelka courted controversy when he performed a 'quenelle' celebration after he scored for West Brom in December 2013.
His actions then came in for strong criticism owing to the gesture's association with antisemitism, with some viewing it as an inverted Nazi salute.

Anelka was fined and banned for five matches by an FA disciplinary committee but the links have remained with him, as members of the Dutch Jewish public voice their concern.
"It's a disgrace for Roda JC to bring in someone like him. There are limits, this is impossible," Herman Loonstein, the chairman of Federatief Joods Nederland, was quoted as saying by De Telegraaf.
