Germany: Gov't company fires employee for 'antisemitic' social media posts

Via Jerusalem Post:
The German Corporation for International Cooperation said on Friday that it had fired one employee and disciplined two additional workers in response to scores of allegations of antisemitic Facebook posts by the company's staff, including at their location in Jordan, which were first revealed by The Jerusalem Post.

"Meetings were held with the eight employees whose posts had been criticized to clarify each specific case, and the outcome was carefully considered on an individual basis. As a result, there has been a dismissal, a written warning and a reprimand," said the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) in a statement.

(...)

The GIZ headquarters is located in the West German city of Bonn and it describes itself as a "federal enterprise with worldwide operations. We support the German Government in the fields of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education. Through our work, we assist people and societies in shaping their own future and improving living conditions."

Mohammed al-Mutawakel, who is currently a project manager at GIZ's headquarters in Bonn and was previously a project manager in Jordan, compared Israel to the Nazi movement. He posted an Israeli flag on Facebook and replaced the Star of David with a swastika. “I hate Israel,” he wrote. GIZ declined to disclose to the Post if al-Mutawakel had been fired and would not provide the name of the other disciplined employees.

Ulrich Nitschke, a senior GIZ employee in the Middle East, praised, according to the Jerusalem-based NGO Monitor, the nomination of the BDS movement for the Nobel Peace Prize. The BDS movement advocates boycotting, divesting from, and sanctioning Israel for its treatment of the Palestinians.

Tobias Thiel, who heads GIZ's Strengthening Reform Initiatives project, said Israel does not have the right to defend itself and shared articles that Israel committed a “deliberate massacre” in the Gaza Strip.

Prior to the GIZ decision to discipline employees, the whistle-blower, who wished to remain anonymous, said GIZ's workplace culture is saturated with antisemitism. The source told the Post that Rudolf Rogg, who oversees the corporation's Middle East department, has “three Facebook accounts with anti-Israeli agitation.”

UK: Labour panellists question Holocaust, call for expulsion of Jewish Labour Movement

Via Daily Mail:
Jeremy Corbyn was urged to act after activists applauded panellists at a fringe meeting who likened supporters of Israel to Nazis.

One speaker even suggested Labour should be free to debate whether the Holocaust had happened.

(...)

The controversial meeting on 'free speech on Israel' was chaired by Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi, who said there was a 'vicious campaign that's been directed at the Palestinian cause, misusing anti-Semitic allegations'. Although described as a free speech event audience members were told not to record it or tweet.

Miko Peled, an Israeli-American who sat on the panel, said 'they' – an apparent reference to Israel or the pro-Israel lobby – did not want Mr Corbyn to enter Number 10. 'This is about free speech, the freedom to criticise and to discuss every issue, whether it's the Holocaust: yes or no, Palestine, the liberation, the whole spectrum. There should be no limits on the discussion.'

He added: 'It's about the limits of tolerance: we don't invite the Nazis and give them an hour to explain why they are right; we do not invite apartheid South Africa racists to explain why apartheid was good for the blacks, and in the same way we do not invite Zionists – it's a very similar kind of thing.'

Michael Kalmanovitz, from the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network, was applauded for calling from the audience for the expulsion from Labour of the Jewish Labour Movement and the Labour Friends of Israel.

A Labour spokesman said: 'Labour condemns anti-Semitism in the strongest terms. We will not tolerate anti-Semitism or Holocaust denial.'

Greece: Anti-Semitic comedian has central role in play to be staged in ancient theater of Epidaurus

Via European Jewish Press:

Tzimis Panousis
A well-known anti-Semitic comedian in Greece, Tzimis Panousis, will have the role of Trigaios, a peace maker in ancient Athens, in the theatrical play "Eirene" (Peace) by Aristophanes that will be staged in the ancient theater of Epidaurus.
Tzimis Panousis was quoted as saying last week in an interview to the daily "To Vima", that "we the Greeks are the new Jews of the season. Then the Nazis chose the Jews, now the Neo-Nazis, the blue family of Schäuble, have chosen us, the Greeks".
Panousis used to call the Jews as "jewdeonazis" and in 2013 issued a poster to promote his performances, in which the Star of David was identified with the Nazi swastika.
Central avenues in Athens were full of these shameful posters and only after the intervention of the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece, the authorities removed them.
In reply to a question, if the National Theater of Greece agrees to such views that equate the Holocaust of 6,000,000 Jews with the situation of the Greeks today, Rena Kyprioti from the office of the Art Director said that the National Theater collaborates with more than 200 artists per year and therefore all their views are personal and "the Artistic Directorate does not comment on statements made by collaborating artists".

Accusations of antisemitism
Panousis has been accused by the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece of expressing antisemitic views, not seldom in connection with his standpoint in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
During an episode of his show Δούρειος Ήχος ("Trojan Sound") at the radio channel City 99,5 in 2009, he used expressions such as "Jews - Pigs - Murderers [...] may you die a horrible death" and "[...] the Jews control all the banks in the American empire, they control all of the show biz [...]", while also referring to the conflict in Gaza.
In 2013, Greek Jewish organisations were appalled by the use of a symbol consisting of the David star entwined with a swastika (the symbol itself is used by the Raelites) for the posters of his show "Troika Club". In relation to this symbol, Panousis has been using the term "nazi Jews" ("εβραιοναζί" in Greek) when describing current Israeli politics.

UK: Labour Students' co-chair claimed “Hitler was Jewish”

Via Guido Fawkes:
The Corbynista co-chair of Manchester Labour Students has been forced to resign after it was revealed he claimed “Hitler was Jewish” and compared Israel to ISIS. Tayyib Nawaz, a psychology student at Manchester Metropolitan University, posted a series of tweets last year which are remarkably grim even by the standards of recent Labour anti-Semitism scandals.

In other remarkable comments Nawaz wrote:
“ISIS is not a democratic organisation like Israel but both murder civilians and claim their authority is from God. “Zionism is scum, even Einstein was against the Zionist terrorism which pressured the creation of Israel. “Muslim feminism supporters? Muslim Gay rights activists? If my kids were any of these I’d slap them. “When you spell Gay wrong but your phone auto corrects it to Fag”.

Germany: 40% of Germans hold modern antisemitic views

Via The Jerusalem Post (Benjamin Weinthal):
Ahead of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s visit to Israel on Sunday, a German government study revealed that nearly 33 million Germans, 40% of the population of 82 million, are infected with contemporary antisemitism – hatred of the Jewish state.
The report, which was published on April 24, details in a section titled “Agreement to Israel-related antisemitism” that 40% of Germans who were polled showed approval of the following statement: “Based on Israel’s policies, I can understand people having something against the Jews.”
The federal government’s antisemitism report found that the proportion of Germans who agreed with the antisemitic statement increased from 28% in 2014 to 40% in 2016. The poll study was commissioned by the Social Democratic Party think tank the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
Dr. Josef Schuster, head of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, spoke to the Die Welt newspaper in late April, saying, “We already notice that in German society solidarity with Israel has declined. The fact alone that the word 'Israel-critic' can be established here shows this. We are also more frequently confronted with Israel-related antisemitism.”
Schuster said, however, that “the federal president should send the message [in Israel] that one can really count on this friendship [with Germany], also in difficult times.”
According to the government report, Schuster said that not every form of criticism of Israeli is antisemitic. He added, however, that criticism of Israel meets the criteria of modern antisemitism when Israel is compared to National Socialism, the Nazi’s victims are turned into perpetrators and when Israel’s right to exist is questioned. The 300-page report states that non-Jewish Germans are suspected of using an exculpatory strategy to mitigate against the remaining guilt felt regarding of the crimes of the Nazis.
The study cited a sarcastic sentence from Israeli psychoanalyst Zvi Rex, who, in the 1980s, said: “The Germans will never forgive the Jews for Auschwitz.”
Petra Pau, a Left Party deputy in the Bundestag, said, “Antisemitism is a problem of the entire society.” She added that Israel-related antisemitism has become respectable.

Germany: Up to half of Germans view Israel as the moral equivalent of Nazi Germany

Via PJ Media (David Goldberg aka Spengler):
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rightly canceled a meeting with visiting German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel after the Gabriel met with Breaking the Silence, an organization that accuses the Israeli government of war crimes. As the Times of Israel explained, "Few organizations are more despised on the Israeli right — and by many who are not on the right — than Breaking the Silence, which publishes anonymous testimonies documenting alleged human rights abuses by Israeli soldiers."
That's the equivalent of meeting Wikileaks--denounced by CIA Director Mike Pompeo as a "hostile intelligence service"--right before a scheduled meeting with the US President. Or the equivalent of a senior American official meeting with German ultra-rightists before a scheduled meeting with Chancellor Merkel. Visiting diplomats simply do not raise the profile and credibility of fringe groups that question the legitimacy of their host government.
Gabriel's action was obnoxious in the extreme, and Israel's Prime Minister had no choice but to snub him. More egregious than the sin of commission, though, was his sin of omission: Germany could explain the reality of their circumstances to the Palestinians more credibly than any other country, by reference to its own sad history.
Why the German foreign minister felt compelled to violate basic rules of diplomacy is another question. Germans dislike President Trump by a 3 to 1 margin, and showing disrespect to Israel is an indirect snub at the US. As a leader of the Social-Democratic Party, moreover, Gabriel speaks to a left-wing constituency many of whom equate Israelis with Nazis. As Jerusalem Post columnist Caroline Glick observes, "As polls taken between 2011 and 2015 showed, between a third and half of Germans view Israel as the moral equivalent of Nazi Germany."
That is of minor consequence in the great scheme of things. The Germans will never forgive us for Auschwitz, as an Israeli psychiatrist quipped, and the memory of Nazi crimes is made easier to bear by believing that the Jews are just as bad. (I run into Germans who believe this from time to time, and tell them that the so-called Palestinians they see on television are actors--we exterminated all the real Palestinians, just like the Nazis).
Sigmar Gabriel should have explained to the Palestinians that they are beaten, and what it means to be beaten. The conflict continues because the Arab side--after losing the 1947 War of Independence, the 1956 Sinai War, the 1967 Six Day War, the 1973 Yom Kippur War, and two pointless Intifadas--refuses to accept that it is beaten. That is a common occurrence in history. Most casualties in war occur well after hope of victory has vanished; that, as I wrote in a study for Asia Times last year, explains why many wars continue until there aren't enough men left to fight.

German newspapers: Netanyahu is a mad dictator like Khamenei

Via Jerusalem Post:
Two German tabloids in Hamburg and Berlin wrote on Friday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is one of the world’s seven most insane dictators, prompting the Israeli Embassy to slam the report as antisemitic.

In unsigned articles titled “The seven looniest leaders of the world,” the papers included Netanyahu on a list with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Syria’s Bashar Assad, North Korea’s Kim Jong-un, Russia’s Vladimir Putin, the Philippines’ Rodrigo Duterte, and Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe.

The headline used the word "Führer" to label Netanyahu; a term routinely reserved for Adolf Hitler.

The article listed the initials of the author as MKR.

The Hamburger Morgenpost and Berliner Kurier, part of the same publishing house, wrote under a picture of Netanyahu that he “long refuses to agree to a two-state solution. He continues to carry out construction of settlements and thereby provokes his Palestinian neighbors. In the long-running troubles with Iran, he tried without success to pressure Barack Obama to launch an air attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. With Trump that could turn out differently.”

Netherlands: Muslim who preached ‘harmony’ unmasked as ‘rabid anti-Semite’

Via JTA:
A Muslim baker who moved many viewers in the Netherlands with his televised plea for coexistence and acceptance had called in the past for a genocide against Jews, Dutch papers revealed.

Rachid el Hajoui, an immigrant from Morocco who works at a pizza eatery in Tilburg, made his emotional appearance during an expose on the growing feeling of insecurity and estrangement in the Netherlands aired on the Feb. 14 evening news edition of the NOS public broadcaster, the country’s best-viewed station.

In the interview, el Hajoui confessed he feared going to mosque “because some crazy person might attack” there.

“Intelligent people incite to the most stupid actions. And stupid people do it,” he said.

El Hajoui complained about “the hateful voices” on Twitter and in the political establishment, ostensibly against Muslims.

“I stand for democracy, and I want my family and everyone to live in harmony,” he said.

But on Wednesday, the de Dagelijkse Standard conservative blog found some hateful statements by el Hajoui, whom they also discovered was once an activist for the Socialist Party and later with the progressive D66 party.

An English-language message posted on el Hajoui’s Twitter account in 2014 read: “Hitler was nothing compared to the Israelis. Someone would had to finish his work 60jr ago.” He also wrote in Dutch: “Only answer to Israel is total extermination, annihilate the cockroaches #1945 #wehateisrael.”

He also praised Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey’s authoritarian and Islamist leader, as “the only real man among Muslim leaders.”

The revelation exposed NOS to scathing criticism in other media for affording el Hajoui the opportunity to preach tolerance without addressing his past statements, which were revealed by Twitter users and bloggers who took an interest in him following the news broadcast.

UK: Demonstrators call for destruction of Israel outside Downing Street

Via CAA:
Demonstrators protesting a visit by Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to Downing Street have been caught engaging in antisemitism.

One woman protested against Mr Netanyahu’s visit with a placard calling him a “Nazi yob murderer” and was ordered to take it down after she was pointed out to police by members of Sussex Friends of Israel attending a large rally held by the Zionist Federation of Great Britain at the entrance to Downing Street welcoming Mr Netanyahu. According to the International Definition of Antisemitism, “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis” is antisemitic. When a reporter from Jewish News, Justin Cohen, asked her to comment and told her which publication he was from, she allegedly told him to “F*** off”.

The protesters could also be heard chanting “From the River [Jordan] to the [Mediterranean] Sea, Palestine will be free,” which only makes sense as a call for the destruction of the Jewish state and its replacement with a Palestinian state. Under the International Definition of Antisemitism, “Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination” is antisemitic.

Germany: Anti-Israel politician compares Jewish Facebook head with Nazi

Via Jerusalem Post:
The deputy head of Germany’s Social Democratic Party equated the Jewish Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg with a neo-Nazi terrorist on Sunday for her attendance at a Trump administration hi-tech meeting.

The politician, Ralf Stegner, who has previously called on Germany to stop all weapons deliveries to Israel, wrote on his Twitter feed about a picture of Sandberg next to US Vice President Mike Pence: “I thought that Ms. Tschzäpe is in jail.”

It appears that Stegner intentionally misspelled the name of the National Socialist Underground member Beate Zschäpe, who is currently on trial for a campaign of terrorist attacks. She is believed to be a key member of the neo-Nazi NSU group, which murdered eight Turkish and one Greek immigrants between 2000-2006. The NSU cell also murdered a German police officer.

Zschäpe has been on trial since 2013.

After criticism on Twitter, Stegner deleted the tweet. Stegner is from the left-wing of the Social Democratic Party, which is a coalition partner in Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government.

Stegner later tweeted on Sunday: “Sorry, commentary was mistake – was therefore immediately deleted. The tastelessness associated with it was not intentional.”

Dr. Efraim Zuroff, the head of the Simon Wiesenthal’s Jerusalem office, told The Jerusalem Post on Monday, “Let me be clear: Mr. Stegner has a really serious problem, namely, antisemitism. It is not clear to me how a person who has been prejudiced can be vice president of the SPD.”

UK: Baroness Tonge spreads anti-semitic fake news

Via Jewish News :
Baroness Jenny Tonge is under investigation by the House of Lords Commissioner for Standards. Initially she was under investigation on two counts: alleged failure to act on personal honour and alleged breach of rules on House facilities. However the first charge has been dropped. It needs to be taken up again because she has posted an anti-Semitic article on her Facebook page.

Tonge posted a piece of fake news. Not just fake – anti-semitic. It claims that at a recent conference, Israel’s President Rivlin said:

“The time has come to admit that Israel is a sick society, with an illness that demands treatment … the Israeli Holocaust against the Palestinians is worse than the Nazis I’m not asking if they’ve forgotten how to be Jews, but if they’ve forgotten how to be decent human beings. Have they forgotten how to converse? I think that ‘Holocaust’ against Palestinians is worse than Nazis.”

The article is bylined AWD News. AWD News mostly publishes far right wing conspiracies.

When Jewish News did its investigation of hate sites last May, AWD News was named as one of the 23 sites listed.

UK: Piers Corbyn tweets Jewish conspirators will force Trump into war 'just like they did to Hitler'

Via Campaign Against Antisemitism:
Jeremy Corbyn’s brother, Piers Corbyn, a climate forecaster and fervent supporter of his brother, has issued his latest long-term prediction on Twitter: that Jewish conspirators and the Royal Family will force Donald Trump into war, just like they did to Hitler.
Piers Corbyn retweeted @whiteknight0011, a notorious neo-Nazi who declared that “They will force Trump in to war What do you think happened to Hitler? Bilderberg CIA IMF Banker Gangsters They are the problem” along with four images.
One shows Lord Jacob Rothschild, the Jewish banker and philanthropist, against the background of a Nazi flag, claiming that he controls the world. A second shows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a puppeteer controlling ISIS through Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, orchestrating the war in Syria and Paris attacks as Lord Rothschild and the Queen look on approvingly. A third image shows the faces of supposed Jewish conspirators who run the world to society’s detriment, proclaiming: “Know your enemy”. The last image shows a family photo of the Royal Family, claiming that they are in cahoots with these Jewish conspirators in committing “the worst genocides, invasions and theft in all history.”
Piers and Jeremy have a long history of political solidarity. Piers has boasted of the family’s anti-racist credentials, but the mask is slipping. The man who now broadcasts that the Jews were responsible for the Second World War, is the same that claimed a Jewish conspiracy against his brother: when Jewish MP Louise Ellman complained of antisemitic attacks against her, Piers Corbyn accused her of using it as a cover for political attack, tweeting: “ABSURD! JC+ All #Corbyns are committed #AntiNazi. #Zionists cant cope with anyone supporting rights for #Palestine”. Brother Jeremy’s response: “He’s not wrong”.
The apple does not fall far from the tree in the Corbyn household. Jeremy Corbyn has not publicly repudiated his brother, nor any number of individuals in the Labour Party attacking the Jewish community. We would like to think it is time to start, but have long realised that any pretence that Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour is ‘anti-racist’ are now history.

UK: Labour reinstates Jew-bashing councillor

Via Guido Fawkes:
Labour has lifted the suspension of a councillor who Guido revealed had written a string of anti-Semitic social media posts. Ilyas Aziz was suspended in May after calling for Jews to “relocate” out of the Middle East, comparing Jews to Nazis, sharing multiple anti-Semitic Rothschilds memes and a “drinking blood” blood libel slur. Cllr Aziz now says:
“Can resume my Labour Party activities now that my suspension lifted. Thanks to all who stood by me in difficult times.”

This wasn’t a one-off retweet, Aziz is a serial offender and the sort of person Corbyn’s Labour evidently want in their party. Expect more anti-Semites to be welcomed back in…
UPDATE: Stephen Silverman from the Campaign Against Antisemitism told Guido:
“Away  from the glare of public scrutiny, Labour has quietly lifted the suspension of yet another virulent antisemite. Once again, it is impossible to avoid the conclusion that the openly-expressed hatred of the Jewish people merits no more than a slap on the wrist in a party that refuses to allow any transparency around its internal disciplinary processes. Under Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour Party is not fit for Jews or those opposed to racism.”

Netherlands: Anti-discrimination group files complaint over party whose founders said Hitler was Jewish

Via JTA:
A Dutch anti-discrimination group complained to police about a political party whose Muslim founders said Adolf Hitler was Jewish and that homosexuality is a contagious illness.

The Bureau Against Discrimination on Wednesday filed the hate speech complaint against the Free Democracy Party, which was established last week ahead of general parliamentary elections scheduled for March, the De Orkaan news site reported.

The party’s official Facebook page was blocked last month in what the party claims was a response to a post about Jews. The said “Jews are worse than the devil” and accused Jews of helping Hitler reach power in Germany and participating in the murder of other Jews, according to De Orkaan. “Hitler was an Austrian Jew who during World War II killed many Jews, including by gassing them,” the post read.

The post also claimed Jews use the far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders “as a pawn to stir trouble in Holland”and falsely asserted that Wilders is Hitler’s grandson. Jews “run the United States but the stupid Europeans believe they were freed by the Americans” during the war, the text also reads.

On Twitter, the party’s official account asserted in a message that “homosexuality in the Netherlands is a contagious sickness that needs to be URGENTLY treated.” The party also tweeted that the blocking of the Facebook page was due to statements about Jews: “Apparently, freedom of expression is not for foreigners!”

UK: Anti-Semitic hate speaker gives talk at a top London university

Apparently, SOAS wants to main a 'neutral platform' for racist inciters.  Good news for all English fascists.

Via Daily Mail:
The Israeli Embassy has reacted with fury after a 'hate speaker' delivered an hour-long rant on Jews and Zionism to students at a top London university.

Thomas Suarez described the creation of Israel as a 'racist', 'fascist' endeavour, and linked the 'cult' of Zionism to the Nazis.

Yiftah Curiel, spokesman for Israel's diplomatic mission, accused SOAS of letting 'racist conspiracy theories' go unchallenged during the talk at the Palestine Society.

He told MailOnline: 'We are surprised and disappointed that SOAS would give a platform to a hate speaker.

'He equates Zionism - the Jewish people's right to national self determination - with Nazism and Fascism.

'It is regrettable that instead of promoting coexistence and dialogue, SOAS would hold an event at which outlandish, racist conspiracy theories regarding Zionism and the Jewish people, were presented as fact.'

The university responded by saying the event was organised independently by the Students' Union and it wanted to maintain a 'neutral platform' for different opinions

UK: Ringleader of ‘violent’ UCL protest believes 'Zionists' control the media, economy

Sounds familiar?

Via CAA:
CAA reports antisemitic tweets by ringleader of ‘violent’ UCL protest to police and university

Campaign Against Antisemitism has referred the leader of a ‘violent’ protest at UCL last week to the Metropolitan Police Service and UCL over antisemitic tweets which have come to light.

The protest last Thursday against the presence of an Israeli speaker at the university reportedly resulted in three female students being assaulted, whilst protesters surrounded and trapped attendees despite efforts by university security and police to separate them from the protesters. At one point protesters jumped through a window to confront the terrified audience of predominantly Jewish students.

Now, Campaign Against Antisemitism has contacted the police and the university regarding security at the event, the conduct of the protesters, and in particular their leader, UCLU Friends of Palestine Society President Yahya Abu Seido. Though Abu Seido’s Twitter account is protected, CAA has obtained tweets stating that:

    “ISIS serves Israel”
    The media is “Zionist”
    “Zionists own the economy”
    Israel should be destroyed
    Israel is pursuing “Nazism”
“Little Israeli girls get brave on Twitter”

UK: UCL professor compares Zionism to the Holocaust

Ted Honderich is professor of philosophy at University College London.  On Twitter he defended the violence of pro-Palestinian protesters against a pro-Israel event.

Honderich is careful to talk about 'neo-Zionism', but in fact, he's talking about all Zionists.  Hen Mazzig, whom he calls a 'leader of racist neo-Zionism', is simply a pro-Israel activist.  The event was a simple pro-Israel event.

According to Hondreich, every Zionist is a racist and Nazi who deserves to be attacked simply for supporting Israel's right to exist.

1 Palestinian students at University College London prevented or broke up a meeting to be addressed by a leader of racist neo-Zionism.

2 If you think that the reaction to this can be simple, you are a more able and quicker thinker and feeler than I am. But I know one thing.

3 Start reflection by considering whether the college should allow a meeting of a speaker of sympathy or understanding of the Holocaust.

4 That helps a little but not more than that. I don't give up on my book partly on the matter.

5 It would be at least mistaken to say or think that the size of the Holocaust makes it beyond consideration with respect to neo-Zionism.
