Italy: Focus on racist and anti-Semitic chants is a 'psychosis', say Lazio

Via France24:
Lazio blasted as "a psychosis focusing on either a minority or non-existent incidents" after racist and anti-Semitic chants overshadowed the team's 4-1 Italian Cup win over Novara at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.

The chanting early in the first half was heard in Lazio's North End and was aimed at the club's bitter city rivals AS Roma, with taunts of "Yellow, red and Jewish" and "This Roma that looks like Africa".

It also targeted police who had clashed with fans on Wednesday at Piazza della Liberta in the capital when celebrations to mark the club's 119th anniversary turned violent.

Eight police were injured and four supporters arrested.

"I am here to talk about the racist and anti-Semitic chants that are supposed to have happened," club spokesman Arturo Diaconale told a press conference after the game.

"I am one of the 98 percent of people in the stadium who didn't hear them.

"The club naturally condemns any racist or anti-Semitic chants, but we have to consider the dimensions of the phenomenon.

"I think it's a form of psychosis focusing on either a minority or non-existent incidents.

"I read about chants as if the entire stadium had participated. We mustn't turn this into a mass panic over nothing. I invite our colleagues in the media to give the right degree of consideration to incidents that would normally be ignored," added Diaconale.

Austria Investigates Fraternity's Nazi Songbook

Via Haaretz:
Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said Wednesday prosecutors are investigating a student fraternity whose songbook contains Nazi lyrics.

Kurz wrote on Twitter that there should be "zero tolerance for anti-Semitism, racism or praising Nazi tyranny."

His comments come after a report revealed a Freedom Party candidate for state office, Udo Landbauer, was a member of the fraternity with the songbook. Many have raised concerns about Kurz's decision to form a new coalition government with the nationalist, anti-migrant Freedom Party.

The book contains the line "step on the gas, you old Germans, we will reach seven million" — an apparent reference to the 6 million Jews the Nazis killed in the Holocaust.

UK: Chelsea condemn fans' anti-Semitic song about Alvaro Morata

Via ESPN FC:
Chelsea fans are embroiled in another racism controversy after the club condemned an anti-Semitic song about Alvaro Morata during their win against Leicester.
The club-record acquisition from Real Madrid is quickly establishing himself as a cult hero at his new club and he headed his third goal of the season to open the scoring on Saturday.
But the adulation he receives from some Chelsea fans embodies itself in a song aimed at fierce rivals Tottenham, who famously have a large Jewish fanbase.
"Alvaro, Alvaro. He comes from Madrid, he hates the f------ Y---" sang Chelsea supporters at the King Power Stadium.

UK: ‘Anti-Semitic’ singer in court after private prosecution

Via Jewish News:
A woman from the East Midlands who posted an anti-Semitic song on YouTube is to appear in court after a Jewish charity launched a private prosecution.

Alison Chabloz was summoned to appear before the Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday, six months after she published her song questioning the Holocaust, calling Auschwitz a “theme park” and saying Jewish financiers “bleed you dry”.

Chabloz, from Glossop in Derbyshire, is due in court after a private prosecution was brought by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA). The charity said it took the decision because “the Crown Prosecution Service failed to prosecute [Chabloz]”.

The song, posted in June, include lyrics such as: “Did the Holocaust ever happen? Was it just a bunch of lies? Seems that some intend to pull the wool over our eyes. Eternal wandering liars haven’t got a clue, and when it comes to usury, victim’s always me and you.”

Elsewhere, she sings: “Tell us another, come on my brother, reap it – the cover, for tribal gain. Safe in our tower, now is the hour, money and power, we have no shame.”

Netherlands: At graduation party, teens sing about burning Jews

Via JTA:
Dutch Chief Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs called on authorities to identify and punish high school pupils who during their graduation ceremony sang about burning Jews.

The incident happened last week during the graduation gala of the Elde College in the town of Schijndel, 70 miles southeast of Amsterdam, the Brabants Dagblad daily reported on Wednesday.

As they approached the party, several graduates sang: “Together we’ll burn Jews, because Jews burn the best.”

The phrase is part of a chant heard several times in recent years during soccer matches connected to the Amsterdam’s Ajax football team, whose players and supporters are often dubbed “Jews” because of the historic Jewish presence in the city, which is sometimes colloquially called “Mokum” after the Yiddish word for “place.” But the gala incident had nothing to do with soccer.

The student body and organizing committee of the Elde College gala expressed their sincere apologies for the incident, but Jacobs said the guilty parties “must be prosecuted for hate speech.”

France: Popular extreme-right band 'Les Brigandes' is the new star of the fascist scene

Via Get the Trolls Out, LICRA (h/t glykosymoritis):
Les Brigandes, which we mentioned before in our January highlights, is an ultra-conservative band made up of seven young women of, shall we say, "unbridled creativity". The group is growing in popularity among all those involved in some way with the world of the fachosphère – the name given in France to all groups or movements perceived as fascist. Under their wolf masks, the group – whose name pays tribute to the Vendean royalist insurgents – spread a fundamentalist, conspiracy message that is fiercely hostile to any kind of difference. A message in which a white, ultra-catholic, Putin-loving France is idealised. The group is led by Marianne, their spokesperson for "alternative" media, supported by Maxime, who posts the young women's numerous musical creations on the Le Comité de Salut Public (Committee of Public Safety) website.

The problem with this latest expression of hate on the internet is the surprising popularity of their videos: 50,000-100,000 views for most of their songs. This sort of makes them stars in the making for the extreme right.

(...)

Inspired by conspiracy delusions, Les Brigandes imagine themselves to be living in a world controlled by lobby groups. The names of these groups certainly cannot be mentioned... yet through their songs, they are revealed to be the famous jewish-zionist-freemasonic coalition. Nothing original here: this are the same clichés that the movement led by Alain Soral refer to in one of their interviews. They accuse the Jewish elite of promoting Muslim immigration with the aim of destroying the European Christian civilisation, thus subscribing to the popular extreme-right theory of "great replacement", the title of their album.

Europe: Anti-Semitism in the Soccer Stands

By the Editorial Board of the New York Times

Football teams with fans who identify with Jews,
such as Tottenham Hotspur (shown above), have
faced anti-Semitism during matches.
An ugly vein of soccer fan excess — the chanting of anti-Semitic slurs — recently disgraced a Dutch soccer game, prompting officials of the home team, Utrecht, to apologize for shocking outcries from the stands like “Hamas, Hamas, Jews to the gas” and “Jews burn the best!”

Anyone who has been to a European match knows how badly things can get out of hand when pushed by brutish fans in the stands. But the Utrecht outrage in a game against Ajax Amsterdam laid bare what soccer supporters say is an epidemic of anti-Semitic outbursts.

The problem is getting worse, according to Kick It Out, a British watchdog organization, which said in March that there were more than 30 instances of anti-Semitic slurs reported in the first half of the season, surpassing last year, with chants of “Yids” and “Kill the Jews” heard at games attended by Jewish fans.

It is absurd to claim, as some soccer apologists do, that this is no more than the usual rough give-and-take of pumped-up, and sometimes liquored-up, spectators. The history of anti-Semitism in Europe is too deep and too raw not to see the problem for the hate-mongering it is. Even neo-Nazi salutes have been brandished at games by fans and an occasional player.

In the 1980s, anti-Semitism in the stadium was mainly stirred by neo-Nazis, but lately there appears to be a combination of factors, according to officials at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a human rights organization. “It’s a new alliance between neo-Nazis and jihadists,” Shimon Samuels, the center’s international relations director, told The Washington Post.

European clubs that campaigned for years to rein in racism claim some progress. Officials must be no less aggressive in stopping the anti-Jewish slurs from being heard around the playing field.

As alarming as the rise in complaints has been, it might also show greater awareness of the problem, according to Roisin Wood, director of Kick It Out. The increase “suggests people are more willing and confident to come forward” to report hate speech, she wrote in The Guardian.

But she emphasized that the game has a stubborn element of discrimination involving abusive and biased attitudes, and it can bring out deep and even noxious passions among its fans. That, unfortunately, seems to be the case as anti-Semitism mars the cheering.

Netherlands: "I hate those f**king Jews more than the Nazis"

Houllich/Ismo writes on YouTube channel that he's not racist, because he's only talking about the Zionist Jews who give the other Jews a bad name. Just like some people give Islam a bad name.

Dutch police are investigating a Muslim rapper who used hateful language against gays and Jews in one of his songs.
The rapper Ismo, whose real name is Ismael Houllich, included the text in his first single. The official video clip for the song titled “Eenmans” (or “One Man’s”) shows Ismo singing: “I hate those fucking Jews more than the Nazis,” “don’t shake hands with faggots” and “don’t believe in anything but the Koran.”

Netherlands: Wilders hates Muslims because of Israel and the Jews

Dutch-Lebanese rapper Hozny recently published a YouTube song titled "Geertje", about right-wing politician Geert Wilders.  While everybody focused on the death threats aspects of the clip, there are a few interesting lines about Jews there as well.

At the 1:35 mark, Hozny accuses Wilders of hating Islam because he likes Jews:
As a soldier in Israel he likes to be among the Jews. Then the hate for Islam is also created in his eye.
As a young man Wilders spent time in Israel, working in a Moshav.  But according to his statements, his 'hate for Islam' started after he started traveling around the nearby Muslim countries, and saw the oppression they suffered and their hate against Israel.

At the 3:55 mark, the clip shows Wilders wearing a kippa, to the lines:
How is it with the kippa on your head? Is Geertje oppressed by the Jewish faith? You don't hear us mess, you don't hear us complain.

Hozny is talking about Wilders' complaints when female Dutch politicians wear a hijab when visiting Muslim countries.

Austria: Rapping duo convicted for antisemitic incitement

Last week "Yasser & OZman", a rapping duo, were convicted for antisemitic incitement.   They were given conditional prison sentences, and fined.

Their clips, which are available on YouTube, include lyrics about wanting to die in Jihad, earning money through drugs and a world ruled by Zionists.  On Facebook they wrote that Jews are a godless race.

In their closing statement, one said that they are not anti-Semites, since they're Semites themselves (they're of Egyptian and Turkish extraction).  The other apologized if anybody misunderstood the lyrics, and said that he was not an enemy of the Jews.
