Chief Rabbi of Paris, Michel Guggenheim, was interviewed by the Israeli religious journal Shvi’i.
Guggenheim said that while the police treat antisemitic crimes seriously, "sadly the judges don't give harsh enough punishments, so that the criminals will think twice whether to commit such crimes."
Asked about the strict laws against antisemitism, Guggenheim answered that such laws are on the books, "but sadly the judges don't make enough use of it. What good do laws do us if there's no deterrence?"
