Norway: Journalist claims Israel targeted children
Norwegian national broadcaster NRK asked Norwegian editors what were the top stories of 2014. All of them listed Ukraine and the Islamic State among the top three.
Only one journalist mentioned Gaza and Israel.
Kjersti Løken Stavrum, Secretary general of the Norwegian Press Association, listed "The War in Gaza" as her #2 top story.
"It was shocking. Not only were children in the line of fire, they seemed to be a target. The event that can't be forgotten is the murder of four boys who played football together on the beach."
I have to assume that she means the Palestinian children, and not the Israeli children, who were actually being targeted. Because, of course, those murderous blood-thirsty Jews want to kill Palestinians, and preferably little ones.
Also, notice that she said "seemed". She's not saying that Israel targeted children. Only that it did so in a way that seemed as though they were being targeted.
Got that? She is not in any way blaming Israel for targeting children, and any conclusions you may draw on that issue are yours and yours alone. Stop blaming Norwegian journalists of Israel-bashing.
They're not bashing Israel. They only seem to be.
And you should ignore the fact that she later says Israel murdered children (ie, with intent). Killed by accident, murdered, it's all the same, right?
Stavrum, btw, defines herself on her Twitter account as "A dedicated follower of brave, decent reporting & reporters"
Surprisingly, when NRK asked their Facebook followers what they most remembered, the "Israeli massacre in Gaza" led the list.
Norwegian editors may not think Gaza was a stop story, but that did not reflect in their newspapers. I'd like to see a comparison of headlines on Ukraine, Islamic State and Gaza.
