Breaking: Russia claims a neo-Nazi attack on Jewish pilgrimage site was foiled

Since Russia now has an interest in proving the pro-Ukrainian forces are antisemitic, this report should be taken with a pinch of salt.

According to Russian news site Life News, an Ukrainian intelligence agency uncovered a neo-Nazi plot to attack the burial site of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov.  The grave, located in the city of Uman in central Ukraine, is an important Jewish pilgrimage site.

UK: Anglican priest says Britain offered Jews a state because it relied on Jewish bankers

Stephen Sizer is an Anglican priest.  In the past he was accused of antisemitism after he linked on his blog to Holocaust denial and Zionist conspiracy theories.  In October he accepted that his online actions had offended the Jewish community and acknowledged he should have "taken more care" and "reflected on the choice of words more carefully".

He was recently interviewed by Iraqui Aletejah TV, where he does not "take more care" at all.  In fact, he does not sound at all like he thinks he should be more careful in anything.  He says he was only accused of antisemitism because he dared criticize Israel.

I listened to it all, because I suffer for this blog.

1. Christian Zionism is a one-sided, racist theology.  That same American racism can be seen in the destruction of the North American Indians, slavery and later the discrimination against Blacks.

2. Christians supported Zionism and the Jewish people as part of European colonialism and antisemitism.

3. Jews wanted a homeland because they were persecuted, and so they wanted to go 'somewhere'

4. To the question: Was Herzl inspired by Nazi Germany, having a country for just one race, Sizer answers: Britain offered Zionists the Balfour declaration since they were afraid Germany would beat them to it.  That's because both countries needed war financing and were relying on the Jewish bankers (Rothschilds etc). 

Sizer later says that the Bible says the land should be shared on the basis of faith, not race.  That is, Israel is indeed racist and inspired by Nazi Germany.

5. The blue lines on the Israeli flag represent the Nile and the Euphrates, which Israel intends to conquer.

6. Zionism is an atheist ideology, but it's also a fundamentalist religious theology.  That is why Jerusalem is so central to Israel, and why "many Zionists" believe the Temple must be rebuilt.

7. Sizer says he questions Israel's right to exist as a state within its current borders.  He denies that's antisemitism, because Israel itself hasn't defined its borders.

He later says that antisemitism is racism, and that's a sin, so he cannot possibly be antisemitic.

8. Zionists like Begin and Shamir renamed settlements after Biblical place-names.

9. The (Christian?) Zionist Lobby is losing ground in Europe, and so they turn elsewhere in the world.  They co-opted the Black movement in Africa, though the Blacks have more in common with the Palestinians.  They're also trying to make inroads in China, Far-East, wherever there are tensions with Muslims, the Zionists show up and say "this is the reasons for your tensions".  

In Europe the Zionist Lobby targets politicians.  When clergy try to support the Palestinians, they are silenced with accusations of antisemitism.

10. Palestinians suffer in 'Bantustans' and 'ghettos'.   Whoever sees their suffering cannot possibly support the Israeli side.

11. Calling criticism of Israel 'antisemitism', just because Israel is made up of Jewish people 'dilutes' antisemitism.  "Real" antisemitism is later ignored.  But in any case, Islamophobia is a greater threat than antisemitism in the UK, but it's tolerated far more than a 'hint' of antisemitism.

Ukraine: European neo-Nazis come to save the white race

Amongst the fascists, ultra-nationalists, and racists in Europe, there has been much griping that the revolt in Ukraine has been overtaken, if not controlled from the outset, by “CIA/ZOG [Zionist Occupied Government]/Soros-sponsored” forces. The Euroscepticism of the continent’s far-right movements has produced a skepticism of the uprising’s much-discussed Europhile mainstream.

And like with Syria—and the Spanish Civil War before it—sympathetic European extremists are travelling to provide support to their ideological brethren.

“We just got boots on the ground and are discussing with Svoboda representatives and other nationalists what we can assist with,” Magnus Söderman, the neo-Nazi organizer of the Swedish Ukraine Volunteers (Svenska Ukrainafrivilliga), told me. “Our message to them is that we will assist with whatever; clearing the streets, security, making food.”

On the group’s website, stuffed with hackneyed neo-Nazi propaganda, potential volunteers are told that “we do not organize any paramilitary force because our involvement is of a civil nature, as aid workers. Of course, should violence break out we will make use of our right of self-defense.” (The site advises recruits to “improve your physical fitness” before travelling to Kiev.) Ukraine, the group says, is facing an existential threat and “we must secure the existence of our people and the future of our white children!”

Ireland: "Palestinians are only against Jews, Jews are evil"

This is from a year ago, but for those who claim anti-Zionism has nothingto do with antisemitism, Sarah Honig tells of her visit to the Irish town of Cahersiveen:

On the town’s main thoroughfare, Church Street, I was buttonholed by three boisterous teenagers in Santa hats, carrying a collection box and big signs reading “Free Palestine.” They solicited my contribution.

I asked: “Free Palestine from whom?” The cheery trio’s swift answer was unambiguous: “The Jews.”

I pressed on: “Do you know where your money would go? “The boys: “To plant olive trees.”

“Are you sure,” I continued, as kindly-looking little old ladies generously opened their purses and dropped coins and bills in the collection box, “that this money wouldn’t fund terrorists and murderers?” Their retort threw me for a loop: “What do you have against Palestinians? What have they done to you? They are only against Jews. Jews are evil.”

 The teacher remained remarkably unperturbed when I repeated to him what the three boys said earlier about Jews “always being villains,” along with one youngster’s aside that “they crucified our Lord.” In fact, the teacher nodded in agreement, without a word of objection.

Russia: We invaded Ukraine because they're anti-Semitic

And we all know Russia cares deeply about fighting antisemitism, when other people are doing it.

From Russia's official statement on Ukraine:

But more importantly, rather than taking account of the numerous appeals to national unity and reconciliation, political power in Kiev has been concentrated in the hands of far-right extremist elements that do not hide their xenophobic, anti-Semitic, neofascist credentials.

All the examples that follow are of anti-Russian sentiments.  But it never hurts to add the Jews in there.

UK: Actress severs ties with The Oldie for its “drip-drip of antisemitic, anti-Jewish, anti-Israel material”

Actress Maureen Lipman has severed her professional links with The Oldie magazine, claiming she will no longer tolerate its monthly “drip-drip of antisemitic, anti-Jewish, anti-Israel material”. 

Ms Lipman is a long-time contributor to the magazine, which was set up 21 years ago by former Private Eye editor Richard Ingrams. She is also a regular judge at its Oldie Of The Year Awards.

But following an article published in its March issue, in which travel writer Dervla Murphy described Hebron as a ghost town left ravaged by the shooting of Palestinians by American-Israeli Baruch Goldstein in 1994, Ms Lipman accused Mr Ingrams of “anti-Zionist bias”.

The Oldie response: "Well, the BBC may feel itself obliged to give what they call a balanced view, but we’re not under any obligation of that kind."

France: Jew attacked on metro

A. Levy, a 28 year old Jew, was attacked on the Paris metro on Sunday.  Levy is a Chabad hassid whose clothing identify him as a Jew.  He said his attackers were four North Africans in their 40s.

They made the Quenelle at him and then hit him shouting "Lihoud Lihoud" (Jew, Jew) and saying "You are a Jew and we will make people like you rot. You have no homeland."  One man held him and another strangled him while the others beat him up.

None of the passengers intervened.  When one of the passengers shouted "the police are coming", they fled.

Belgium: "Europe-Israel, an alliance against nature"

Véronique De Keyser, Belgian MEP for the Socialist Party, will present her latest book "Palestine, la trahison européenne" (Palestine, the European betrayal).

David Cronin, an Irish journalist working for such notable media as The Guardian, Wall Street Journal and the Electronic Intifada among others, will speak about "Europe Israel: an alliance against nature".  He'll be prefaced by Omar Baghouti, the founder of the BDS movement.

Greece: Doctor puts up "Jews not welcome" sign

Police in northern Greece say a 57-year-old neurologist has been arrested for inciting racial hatred and weapons possession.

Italy: Jewish community faces persistent anti-Semitism, says US report

The Jewish community in Italy faces persistent anti-Semitism, while other prejudices continue to be a problem in the country, according to a US government report published on Friday.

Italy’s 30,000 Jews continue to be subjected to discrimination in Italy, such as vandalism and online hate speech, the US State Department’s Country Report on Human Rights Practices for 2013 said.

“Anti-Semitic societal prejudices persisted,” the report said, naming “prominent individuals and extremist fringe groups” responsible for attacks against the Jewish community.

Germany: "Jewish pigs" on leftist youth club in Dachau

An anti-fascist youth club in Dachau was vandalized with Nazi graffiti.  Slogans included: "Jewish pigs", "NSU", "NS", "anti-antifa" (antifa = anti fascists), "White Power" and swastikas.

The club had been targeted by neo-Nazis in the past year.  In December they received a package containing animal organs, apparently a pig's heart.  The package was titled "last warning".

France: 40% of racist violence targeted at Jews

The SPCJ (Jewish Community Security Service) published its 2013 annual antisemitism report.  Available on the SPCJ site in English, French and Hebrew.

Main points:

* The expected decrease in antisemitic acts afer the outstanding figures of 2012 did not take place as significantly and as legitimately hoped. 

* The high level of antisemitic threads creates a hostile environment in which anti-Jewish statements are more common and encourage—in the short or long term—moving into action. 

We can easily measure how this climate goes beyond the current quantitative report. The number of antisemitic websites, blogs, forums, and emails develops exponentially online and has yet to be recorded.

* Since the year 2000 —and for 14 consecutive years— the number of antisemitic acts in France has been very high. Since 2000, the number of recorded antisemitic act is about 7 times higher than numbers recorded in the 1990s. During this period, six people were murdered because they were Jewish, including three young children. 

Antisemitism in France cannot be considered anymore as a temporary situation associated with situation in the Middle East; it is a structural problem that has not been fought as such and has not been halted yet.

* Racism and et Antisemitism: « less than 1% get 40% » 

40% of racist violence perpetrated in France in 2013 targeted Jews. However, Jews represent less than 1 percent of the French population. This means that less than 1 percent of the population is the target of 40 percent of racist physical attracks committed in France.

Ukraine: Holocaust as "a bright episode in European civilisation"

The Telegraph, on the Svboda party (h/t Philosémitisme Blog):

Take Oleh Tyahnybok, the rather rugged leader of Svboda, which dominates the Western-most provinces of Ukraine. Western media has described him as one of the three most important opposition leaders and he's met foreign dignitaries like John McCain. He is also a potentially dangerous man. In one infamous speech in 2004, Tyahinybok lashed out at the "Moscow-Jewish mafia" and the "kikes". In 2005, he wrote an open letter to the President asking him to halt the "criminal activities" of "organised Jewry". It should be noted that he insists he is not anti-Semitic, simply "pro-Ukrainian" and that he has won prosecutions against him for ethnic hatred.

But Svboda has form. It is a member of the Alliance of European National Movements, along with France's National Front, the British National Party and Hungary's Jobbik. Its policies include taking farm land into national ownership and giving to people to hold on a "hereditry basis". No one who was not born in Ukraine can become a citizen; outsiders cannot adopt Ukrainian children. In 2005, one of the party's deputies founding the Joseph Goebbels Political Research Center. It was later renamed after a German conservative revolutionary. That particular deputy described the Holocaust as "a bright episode in European civilisation" which "strongly warms the hearts of the Palestinian population." The best defence against Jewish corruption is childbearing Ukrainians.

France: Wave of verbal and physical harassment

Israeli news-site News1 spoke with a spokesperson of Jewish self-defense groups, which are particularly active in Paris and Lyon.

The spokesperson said that in recent months Jews in France suffer from a wave of verbal and physical harassment, by antisemitic and extremist Arab elements.

Incidents included: brawl between Arab and Jewish youth, antisemitic graffiti on Jewish homes, cries of "Death to the Jews" and burning of Jewish-owned cars.

The antisemitic incidents are accompanied by anti-Israel propaganda led by local representatives of terrorist groups like Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad.  The spokesperson also said that antisemitic materials from China were being given out in French campuses.

Ukraine: "Death to the Jews" on Crimean synagogue

The spray paint included Swastika symbols and the wording "death to the Jews," said Anatoly Gendin, head of the Association of Jewish Organizations and Communities of Crimea, reported e-crimea.info.
