France: Netanyahu calls for massive aliyah by Jews of France and Europe

Haaretz  reports that "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to a small group of francophone Jews in an election meeting at a Jerusalem hotel on Monday.

Pitching for the French vote in his first direct address to the community, Netanyahu said he expected to see aliyah in the hundreds of thousands as a result of a renewed anti-Semitism that is unlikely to wane.

The Charlie Hebdo attacks were, he suggested, a sign that the period of Jewish safety in Europe after the Holocaust was "but a brief pause," and that only in Israel could the Jewish community protect itself. "Israel is the country of each Jew. I ask you, each of you, to make aliyah," he said.
