Germany: "Why should we care about the Jews, especially given their machinations in Israel"

Jacques Schuster writes in Die Welt that Europeans should care about what happens to Jews.

But one sentence in his op-ed caught my eye.  "Many people think - why should we care about the Jews, especially given their machinations in Israel."

Sadly, this is a recurring theme.

As Jewish-Norwegian blogger Suzanne Aabel wrote: "When things happen in Gaza, there's engagements, torch processions and riots on social media.  When the victims are on the Israeli side, it seems people think: they're getting what they deserve".
